One of the most popular and most promising regions is the northern Pacific coast ("Guanacaste Gold Coast") with the Peninsula of Nicoya, which can be very easily reached from the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia. The Nicoya Peninsula is one of the 5  Blue Zones of the world, in which people live noticeably longer than in the rest of the world.

In particular, in the southern part of the Peninsula of Nicoya tourism has not yet made its entrance, so that you can still find many unspoiled beaches and secluded dream properties also in the hinterland.

It is relatively easy to buy real estate in Costa Rica - even with a simple tourist visa. Many foreign investors set up a limited liability company or a joint stock company, which simultaneously provides economic freedom and protection with little effort.

Locals and foreigners enjoy the same rights with respect to property ownership in Costa Rica. All interested parties are invited to consult a lawyer to ensure an independent title search and retrieval.

In order to buy property, the title is passed before a notary from seller to buyer by making out an escrow (escritura).

Additional information regarding beach properties: by law, the first 200 meters of beachfront is owned by the government. Of the 200 meters, the first 50 meters are public zones, whereas the remaining 150 meters (Zona Restringida) is leased to private individuals or corporate entities.
